Morning Train

"Morning Train", an uplifting song of spirit, strength and community, is the first single from the Broke In Two album. Written by Tyler Grant, guitarist for Grant Farm, the track leans on the Funk side of the band's self-described Cosmic Americana sound, and features a catchy call-and-response chorus. Solid drums and bass by Sean "Magic" Macaulay and Adrian "ACE" Engfer hold down Grant's lead guitar lines with the percussive Clavinet of Kevin "Money" McHugh tying the whole train together. Leave your fears behind. Only Love can fire the engine.

Lyrics

It's Time To Take That Ride

Now Don't You Want To Go

There's Plenty Of Room Inside

Wheels Are Rolling Slow

Now Don't You Want To Go

Ain't Got No Time To Spare

Makin' Stops Across The Nation

Don't Cost A Dime To Share

Got No Time To Spare

And It Sure Ain't No Vacation

Chorus:

On That Morning Train

You Will See The Light Of Day

Gonna Carry Us Aways

Holy Rollin' All The Way

Right On Track, There's No Looking Back

No Way

It's Time To Take That Ride

Now Don't You Want To Go

There's Plenty Of Room Inside

Wheels Are Rolling Slow

Now Don't You Want To Go

Just Leave Your Fears Behind

Only Love Can Fire The Engine

Cast Away Your Pride

All These Friends Inside

Are In Need Of Your Attention

-Chorus-

Golden Charioteer

Golden Charioteer sets up the album with a drone and chant harkening the weary Travelers to embark on their journey.

lyrics

There’s smoke in the dawn

The flame rages on

We’re not alone

Golden Rider guide us home

We’ve a long ways to go

Now we behold

Divine, eternal home

Where the broken are made whole

So into the night we go

To be the instruments of hope

Arjuna The Believer

A study on faith and the balance of Light and Dark by drummer Sean Macaulay. In the Baghavad Gita, Arjuna is witness to a divine act, therefore he believes. We all have personal experiences which can reveal the divine. The Wanderer and the Innocent One, Archetypal characters introduced on Grant Farm’s previous album, Kiss The Ground, are referenced here via their journeys toward the light. Later in the album, Nester faces the darkness head-on. What will become of Nester the condemned?

lyrics

So Glad You Could Make It And Welcome To The Show

You Don't Have To Worry You're Right On Time, Right On Time

Step Into The Shelter And Away From The Cold

Listen To The Stories Make 'Em Yours I'll Make Em Mine

First There Was A Wanderer As The Story Goes

There In The Dark Forest What He Saw, No One Knows

Came Into The Glory For Everybody Else

I Was There To See It When He Found The Tree, He Found Himself

Fast On Our Heels Is The King In His Delight

Curse His Drunken Heart When The Morning Comes, He Makes Us Fly

Deeper In The Forest Where Monsters Come Alive

There We Lost The Innocent And Then We Learned Just How To Cry

Mama Came And Saw Me In My Dream Last Night

Told Us Not To Worry That We're All God, And It's Alright

So Here We Are In Mourning But We Are Not Alone

Remember What She Told Us And Now It's Time To Go

So I Believe Give Into The Song

I Believe When Everything Goes Wrong

I Believe My Heart Is Open Wide

This Love Is Ocean-Size

Chorus:

Oh, You Know It's Just A Matter Of Time Until It's Right Again

Although The Angels Weep Through The Night

When The Darkness Makes It Way Back In To Our Lives Again

I'll Be There To Keep The Fire Bright

Like Waves On The Ocean In The Seas Of My Delight

Therein Lies The Freedom In The Crashing Waves And Rolling Tides

Find The End Of Earth As Far As It May Go

And Then We'll Cast Our Ships And Sail Away To Lands Unknown

Away From The Perils Across This Big Blue Open Sky

There I'll See My Baby When I Think Of Love I See Her Eyes

So If You're Full Of Fear Remember The Opposite Is Faith

Here I Am To Say That I Believe

-Chorus-

We'll Ride Through The Night Give Into The Vision

We're Going To Make Our Way Home

When It Feels Like A Fight And Everything Is Broken

Don't Forget That You Are Not Alone

Don't Forget That You Are Not Alone

I Believe

Forward On

A discussion of the Dark Night of the Soul from the perspective of a traveling musician, written by Adrian Engfer. We trod on through obstacles and foul weather, far from our loved ones left behind. The search for fulfillment of our goals is a constant battle with the forces that interfere. Our goals may differ, but the human element of struggle is constant. We are in search of a song, a dream, a place to rest, a safe route home. Soldier on boys, tie those bootstraps tight.

Lyrics

I'll Find My Way

On This Long Dirt Road

Where The Sun Don't Shine

No Flowers Grow

In The Hazy Morning Sun Birds Cry In The Wind

Singing Their Songs And They Will Provide

As A Fire Burns Far Away

And The Day Threatens To Begin

If I Had A Choice I'd Be High Above

With My Sweetheart And A Glass Of Wine

Swinging Softly Beneath The Stars

Heart In Hand One To Love

I'll Find My Way

On This Dusty Trail

No Hand To Hold

Keepin' Close To The Rail

Well There's Barely Enough Time And It's Safe To Say

We'll Be Running Late

But The Best Things In Life

Come To Those, Those Who Wait

So I'll Soldier On Tie The Bootstraps Tight

Surround My Self With Some Real Good Friends

Who Will Help Me Through And Find The Way

On This Long Dark Summer Night

Because Every Now And Then I Crash And Burn

I Dive Deep Into The Flames

I Lose Myself And All That I Hold Dear

I Sit Back And Wonder Why Did I Drive This Distance Between Us Babe

Forward On

Til The Break Of Day

Might Lose My Mind

Who's To Say?

River Styx

The voice of God assures a Father & Son, who discuss the impending journey across River Styx in this masterpiece by Sean “Magic” Macaulay. Don’t you cry, It was just yesterday that you were in the clouds.

Lyrics

Holy Spirit:

Don't You Cry, My Baby, Don't You Cry

It Was Just Yesterday, You Were In The Clouds

Don't You Cry My Babies, Don't You Cry

It Will Be Soon Again That You'll Be In The Clouds

Father:

Help Me Son, Get Me Down There By The River

So I Can Lay My Body Down

I Miss So Much All My Brothers And My Sisters

I Wanna See The Golden Town

Son:

Listen Pa, I'll Help You Ever After

I Don't Think Your Time Is Now

You Gotta Put One Foot In Front Of The Other

Before Your Spirit Wears That Crown

Father:

Oh Boy You Don't Know How It Feels

When Body Pines Away

Know That I'll Miss You Son

We'll Meet Again One Fine Day

Son:

Well I Know Nothing Lasts Forever

But You Don't Have To Give Up This Night

You Told Me Once When I Was Just A Babe

Nothing Comes Without A Fight

Father:

Listen Son, I'll Love You Ever After

I just Know My Time Is Now

River Styx Is Calling Me To Join

The Only Question Now Is How

Son:

Oh Pa You Don't Know How It Feels

Watching You Pine Away

Give It Just One More Try

So I Can See You Here Today

Father:

Well Everyone, From Heroes To The Villains

Have To Cross The River Wide

Soaked In Sin, Or Graced With God's Good Glory

No One Makes It Past This Line

And After All, There's Faith In This Baptism

To Start Again And Drink The Wine

There's Nothing Wrong With Giving You The Torch My Son

And Letting Go Of Breath And Time

Letting Go Of Breath And Time

Son:

Oh God, Tell Me Why

All That I Love Has To Die

Oh God, Tell Me Why

All That I Love Has To Die

Holy Spirit:

Well The Answer's As Old As The Question

Ain't No Use To Wonder Why

You Bought In When You Stepped Out Of The Garden

And So It Goes Till The Day You Fly

It Might Seem Like The Storm Of The Century

But You're Not Alone On The Other Side

When You Swim In The River Of Mystery

From Every Death Comes New Life...

So Don't You Cry, My Babies Don't You Cry

It Was Just Yesterday, You Were In The Clouds

Don't You Cry My Babies Don't You Cry

It'll Be Soon Again That You'll Be In The Clouds....

Nester

Nester awaits his meeting with the Monarch King and certain execution to follow. Having accepted his fate, he hopes to face his circumstance with dignity and grace. Yet there is a glimmer of hope in the heart of Nester as he sings "If you believe in miracles, then help me to my feet..." Perhaps it's never too late to be saved, even in the darkest of times. -Sean Macaulay

Lyrics

Ain't No Way Around It King Is On His Way

No Two Ways About It Someone's Gonna Pay

When I See His Eyes Try Not To Look Away

Though My Easy Life Is Gone With Yesterday

King Is Coming On His Way

King Is Coming On His Way

Gallows Rope Is Trusted Hangman Has My Name

Now That I Am Busted There's No one Left To Blame

So When I Say Goodbye I'll Be Looking For Your Face

I'll See You In The Sky And That Other Place

King Is Coming On His Way

King Is Coming On His Way

I Don't Know What To Make Of This

I Don’t Know What To Do

Not Too Sure Where To Go With This Mess

But I Know That I'm Lost Without You

I Know That I'm Lost Without You

King Is Coming, King Is Coming, On His Way

King Is Coming, King Is Coming, On His Way

If You Believe In Miracles

Then Help Me To My Feet

We Can Walk Together Til' The Morning Comes

We Can Watch The Mountain From The Moonlight In The Street

Then We'll Be Together Til' The Hangman

He Comes To Take Me Away

I Don't Know What To Make Of This

I Don’t Know What To Do

Not Too Sure Where To Go With This Mess

But I Know That I'm Lost Without You

La Da Da, La Da Da, La Da Da

La Da Da, La Da Da

La Da Da, La Da Da, La Da Da

But I Know That I'm Lost Without You

I Know That I'm Lost Without You

I Know That I'm Lost Without You

Love and Pain

An acknowledgment of the Grace of Woman, from the perspective of a man who is really trying says songwriter Tyler Grant.

Lyrics

I Ain't Misbehaving

But The Bad Luck Follows Me

There's A Time For Praying

And A Time To Just Let It Be

And Then There's Woman

With A Grace None Can Explain

She Sees The Light I Just Can't See

She Is The Love And I Am The Pain

She Is The Love And I Am The Pain

She Is The Love And I Am The Pain

No I Ain't The Smartest

But I Know My Place In Time

I Try My Hardest

Just To Keep My Poor Self In Line

And Then There's Woman

For Whom Doin' Right Comes Naturally

She Shines A Light I Still Can't See

She Is The Love And I Am The Pain

Tumbleweed

A love song written by Adrian Engfer

Lyrics

Messed Up And Broken From This Life On The Road

Worn Out And Dirty Broken Down On The Shoulder Missing Home

After All This Blood, Sweat And Tears Ain't Got Much To Show

You Light A New Fire Within And The Breeze, And The Breeze It Does Blow

Like A Tumbleweed A Rollin' You Landed In Front Of Me

Knew Just What You Wanted Didn't Make It A Mystery

One Way Or Another I'll Provide All We Need

Work Hard For You Day And Night Build The Row, Plant The Seed

Cause This Can't Last Forever Unless We Believe

You Are My One And Only Tumbleweed

No One Said It Would Be Easy Sho' Ain't That Hard

Loving You Ought To Be The Easiest Thing To Do

Loving You Ought To Be The Easiest Thing To Do

And As We Wander Down This Winding Road We Walk Hand In Hand

Might Stumble, Trip Or Fall Just Know I'm Your Man

On This One Way Road To Glory Outside And Within

All We Gotta Do Is Love Each Other And We'll Reach That Promised Land

Let's Make This Last Forever Darling Honey Please

You Are My One And Only Tumbleweed

No One Said It Would Be Easy Sho' Ain't That Hard

Loving You Ought To Be The Easiest Thing To Do

No One Said It Would Be Easy Sho' Ain't That Hard

Loving You Ought To Be The Easiest Thing To Do

Loving You Ought To Be The Easiest Thing To Do

Life of Riley

The Rebel Archetype lives the “Life of Riley”. He wanders from home to find his own way, & is surprised to find others just like him-his Tribe.

Dedicated to Scotty Stoughton, founder of WinterWonderGrass Festival - Tyler Grant

lyrics

Oh Riley, Oh Riley

Oh Riley What Have You Done?

I Wandered Away From My Home And I Found A Sunny Place

Where I Can Live As I Please And I Saw The Others There

I Saw The Others Yes I Saw The Others Just Like Me

Oh Riley Oh Riley

Oh Riley What Will You Do?

I'll Build Me A Stage And I'll Invite My New Friends To Play

As One We'll Create A Brand New Song And We'll Help The Others There

We'll Help The Others Yes We'll Help The Others Sing Along

Oh Riley Oh Riley

Oh Riley Where Are You Now?

I'm Still Wandering Afar Still Playing My Guitar

And Livin' As I Please And I See The Others There

I See The Others Yes I See The Others Just Like Me

Salmon Song

A song of wisdom sung from the other side. As we navigate the never ending flowing of water in this life, it is the ones that have gone before us, who offer the best advice. -Sean Macaulay

lyrics

I'll Be Waiting By The Salt And The Sea Where The Sand Meets The Breeze

Oh Love It Only Seems Right To Meet You Here

I'll Be Coming In The Form Of The Free A Long Melody

As You Make Your Way To The Waters Of The Stream

And If I'm Gone Before We Can Meet And You're Swimming Alone Upstream

Hear These Words

As You Make Your Way Through The Frights Of The Stream The Bears That Cry And Scream

Remember To Be Kind And To Breathe

Give A Little Hope For The Lost And Found Shine Your Light My Love

It Comes In Waves Now, Lonely Child But You Can Never Give Enough

Up The Mighty River That Is Where I'll Wait With Open Arms

We Are Gonna See A Better Day

Know That I Am With You Even When It Seems That I Am Far

We Are Gonna Meet Again One Day

When You're Swimming Through The Foam Of The Steep

And All You Can Do Is Weep You Don't Have To Be Right All The Time

And When It's Time For You To Teach Remember Me

As You Make Your Way To The Waters Of the Sea

Give A Little Hope For The Lost And Found Shine Your Light My Love

It Comes In Waves Now, Lonely Child But You Can Never Give Enough

Up The Mighty River That Is Where I'll Wait With Open Arms

We Are Gonna See A Better Day

Know That I Am With You Even When It Seems That I Am Far

We Are Gonna Meet Again One Day

I'll Be Waiting By The Salt And The Sea

Where The Sand Meets The Breeze

Oh Love It Only Seems Right

Broke In Two

“We are One, Broke In Two. Out in the strange place, who are You?” The title track written by Adrian Engfer details the Light and Dark sides of life and in particular how to navigate impending Death. Within the Bhagavad Gita are guidelines on how to transcend this life and discusses the possibility of reincarnation and cycles of life as ways to learn and grow.

Another main theme discussed in the Bhagavad Gita and other texts is the interconnectedness and Unity of all things which can be an empowering energy to tap into when faced with challenges in life. “We are all part of the same stream”

“The peace of God is with them whose mind and soul are in harmony, who are free from desire and wrath, who know their own soul.” -Bhagavad Gita

lyrics

We Are One Broke In Two

Out In This Strange Place Who Are You?

Search Within Learn To Live Without

Have You Heard The Truth Calling Out For You?

Just As A Leaf Shows Signs Of Abuse

Our Thoughts Lead Us Towards How To Misuse

This Gift Of Life, Which We Are To Lose

Burrow Deep Within Find The Roots

Seek The Source Between Pleasure And Pain

Just Don't Forget It's All Part Of The Game

To Wear You Out, Make You Blind Again

These Bodies Will Pass, There Is No End

Take A Step On A Path To Bliss

No Effort Is Lost No Obstacles Exist

What Did You Expect?

The Man Of Steady Intellect

Will Cast Off All Desire

And Spring Forth With The Karma And Inspire

To Go Deep Within Your Mind

Unity And Strength You'll Find

To Give Meaning To This Dream

We Are All Part Of The Same Stream

What Did You Expect?

The Man Of Steady Intellect

Will Cast Off All Desire

And Spring Forth With The Karma And Inspire

Then We'll See Each Other In The Great Divine

No More To Suffer, Have To Run And Hide

Sink Or Swim, Fight Or Die

We'll Be Set Free

We Are One Broke In Two

Out In This Strange Place Who Are You?
